Hunting & Fishing Supplies

In 1967, Dave Benham Sr. was working in a machine shop in Pittsfield, Massachusetts by day while operating a small hunting & fishing supply store out of his Onota Street home in the evenings. Eager to turn his passion into a business, Dave founded Dave’s Sporting Goods and began serving local sportsman from a spare bedroom before quickly expanding into the home’s basement in 1968.

The business continued to grow, and in 1979, Dave purchased the store’s current location at 1164 North Street in Pittsfield. Soon after, Paul Briggs and Dave Benham Jr. joined the staff and Dave’s Sporting Goods expanded into the neighborhood institution that it is today. Paul and Dave later purchased the business in 2002 and have been at its helm ever since.

As lifelong sportsmen themselves, Paul, Dave, and store manager Kodey White have over 90 years of combined experience and are knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated to serving their customers. Dave’s Sporting Goods has been lucky to call so many of Berkshire County’s residents our customers, staff, and friends for these past decades.
